Book Review – Mutton Soup: Because Chicken & Chicks Are So Outdated

Blurb of the book says, LOVE! The only word and emotion in this world that bags the potential to turn a rat into a lion… and a lion into a lamb! Now, when this lamb is caught in the web of love, slaughtered into multiple shapes, compressed under varied emotional tortures, marinated and preserved by certain caretakers, and finally, heated and cooked to death, where its sole motive remains to be a TASTE to others, our MUTTON SOUP is ready to be served delicious! Vegetarians or non-vegetarians, doesn’t really matter.

Pratham, whose one track life surrounded by his friends gets zeroed when he meets the love of his life, Priyangi. Ultimately, they define it beyond the bounds of right and wrong. Eventually, a roller coaster tale follows, which reveals that ‘love’ exists beyond Mills & Boon and Bollywood, deep in the corner of every heart, what only creates a difference is CONFESSION. In this story where you would be trapped between two hearts beating away from each other, still staying together, you would be caught in the bliss of googly giggles, you would be chopped to chip and bleed, you will turn salty to create a taste with your tears, but you won’t have the permission to yell and prevent yourself from being cooked!

My view on Pratham’s story:

Main character’s – Priyangi, Pratham, karan, poorvi, Divya, David Thomas, Inspector Venkateswaran, Siddesh, Himang, umang, and Yogi.

What’s Good: dialogues delivery, simple and subtle writing style, Language, Twist and turns, Lot of funny moments, Emotional and romantic roller coaster and a specially those poems which were added in between the chapters.

What’s Bad: As a reader, I wished writer could have spent few more pages before main story starts and in end part was abrupt and sudden.

Read Or Not: Mutton Soup: Because Chicken & Chicks Are So Outdated is definitely a one time read novel that makes you laugh, you can feel the romance in Pratham’s and Priyangi’s love tale, emotional at times where you would end up having moist eyes.

The novel starts somewhere from between where pratham goes to a small trip to Bangalore. Than-after, the story starts with the monotonous college life of a notorious yet ambitious Pratham. While reading I felt like this story was written as an ordinary teen, College students will love it as they would be able to associate them with the protagonist and that’s what make it a wonderful read.
Later on, the twist comes where Priyangi enters his life, their love life starts and that plot seems being inspired from a Bollywood movie.

Later on, the thrill starts and that’s where you will be able to see and find the best capabilities of Author in narrating a story. I thank author for ending up this story on a happy note. As a reader, I wanted this story to be ended up on a positive note.

The USP of the novel is a mushy romance and those thriller chapters in between are like cheery on the cake. Some love making scenes and poems will actually keep you glued to this book till the end. I must accept, Romance and emotional factor is in the core of it. There is a lover who goes mad after losing his love and still never lose his hope and keeps trying to retain that relation. That is what this book is all about.

Though the book is having a common story, college students, lovers and teenagers would love it like anything as they would be able to associate them with the protagonist.

I like this novel and I want this author to write more such beautiful novels.
Some moments in the novel specially the love making scene, those parts where Pratham longs for her love. romance at sea shore and in hotel rooms will definitely touch your heart and stay for a while in your mind.
I would suggest, read this book at least once as you won’t regret it.

Though the author is able to create some really wonderful scenes, the story line is ordinary. Language is very simple which has already worked wonders for him.

I definitely love reading Mutton Soup: Because Chicken & Chicks Are So Outdated and will definitely recommend it reading at at least once.I assure you you won’t regret it buying and reading this thriller cum romance tale.

My rating: 3.75 out of 5
