Blurb of the book:

‘The Last Bloom’ is a story of Priya, her dreams, aspirations and struggles to fit into her new college life and its politics. Priya was ecstatic, as she was admitted to her dream college. All her visions of adventurous rock climbing trips, long night jollification with bosom friends, class bunking in lieu of movie shows, tasting lip smacking street side delicacies with classmates-a new exciting world would now unfold before her! But college is different from Priya’s idyllic dreams. In an environment as opposed to that of school, exposed to an educational system, which is controlled by political unions, will naive Priya be able to survive without any political protection? Caught between the college hero Suvo’s charming words and her acrid tussles with conceited college dropout Vivek, will immature Priya be able to differentiate between cajoling false comrades and brutally honest well-wishers? Often degraded by the skittish Shweta and saved by the blunt rebellious Aashi, will Priya be able to identify her friends and stand up for them, against fierce opposition? As Priya undertakes her journey of self-discovery, will she succumb to her deep-seated fears and insecurities or will she survive the ultimate test of time?”

Authors like Pouloumi Sengupta make us think like yes, there’s so much more to write and ponder about other than Rain and romance. I would like to appreciate author’s effort for taking up such an interesting topic.

You always wish to travel back to the time which you always define as “The Golden Period of your Life” yes; you got me right, I’m talking about the college life. This book had elements to take me back to those days which I was missing since months. The lead character of this book Priya was a strong character weaved perfectly by the author. I would appreciate writer’s describing skills here as the way author kept all the scenes and different details in a sequence that as a reader I never felt out of the pace. I would genuinely like to appreciate author’s writing skills.

Various aspects were taken up by the Author while penning down this interesting tale called “The Last Bloom” as this book talks about different aspects altogether such as Politics, college, difference in environment, different opinion, dreams and aspirations and other struggles  which a normal student might face as a part of life.

Language has always been an important medium for us to communicate wherever we want to. Author took up this issue in an interesting manner. How does language affect students in colleges and how problematic it becomes for students to deal with language barriers. I would like to congratulate Author for taking up an issue which is indeed serious but hardly discussed and taken into consideration.

Another positive point I found in the book is, language used by the author is easy going that will make easier for a reader to connect with the story line.

Books like these need to be promoted for some obvious reasons. This book has all the elements to get a tag of a Best Seller.

Even though this book is written by a debut writer the way description is done, the way out of the box thought process is shown and the way whole story is weaved is truly commendable. I had a great time reading this book and as a reader I loved how this book turned up.  I would recommend this book to you if you are fond of reading new and exciting subjects. If you like to read fresh writers and their fresh thoughts, this book deserves to be given a chance.
